Toshiba M200

Toshiba Portege M200 tablet PC

Toshiba selected good components for the M200. In Canada, Toshiba does not offer an online note

book configurator so you are stuck with one standard configuration. Ports are sparse. This policy is further exacerbated by the fact that only Toshiba drives can boot the M200 (or R100 for that matter) and the drives that Toshiba sells are outrageously expensive ($499 CDN). It also came bundled with Toshiba's suite of excellent configuration utilities.

This game looks fantastic and runs great.

Games are a great overall stress-test for any computer. Using the standard detail settings, I was able to play the game smoothly at 1280*1024. If you don't know already, the Pentium-M is faster than a Pentium 4 clock-for-clock. This means that a 1.6 GHz Pentium-M is faster than a 1.6 GHz Pentium 4. It shows Toshiba's commitment to performance that they did not select a slightly slower, cheaper in-house hard drive.

Applications like Microsoft's OneNote and Journal (both bundled with the M200) plus applications like Corel Painter IX and Alias Sketch Pro.

Most of the magazines and journals on software, hardware and the computer industry in general carry out regular reviews of tablet PCs. Many of the reviews discuss the new products in this growing market. It is advisable to read these reviews if one is planning to buy a tablet PC. However, not all reviews give a clear picture of the various functions of the products they are reviewing. In most of the quality reviews, there is always some reference to the software and hardware used in a particular tablet PC. Ever since the first tablet PC was presented in the year 2000, there have been rave reviews about this product.
Most major manufacturers offer some version of the tablet PC form factor. Gateway, Lenovo, HP, Dell, Toshiba, Fujitsu, ASUS and Sony all have very competitive products to offer.

What Tablet PCs Can Do for You

By Nick Smith

Tablet PCs are great. There are two main types of tablet PCs: convertible and slate. Convertible tablets look a lot like normal laptops except the screen can be rotated all the way around and laid down flat across the keyboard. As with any technology, tablet PCs have advantages and disadvantages. Advantages of Tablet PCs

Far and away, the best thing about tablet PCs is their mobility. Tablet PCs let you use digital ink to store handwritten notes, graphs, charts, and pictures. Using the stylus, tablet PCs record your handwriting and drawings. They can convert your handwriting to text if you need to turn in an assignment typewritten.

Because of the digital ink option on tablet PCs, much of the need for paper supplies and writing utensils is eliminated. Finally, one of the advantages of tablet PCs over regular laptops is that you don't lose any functionality from your computer. Tablets operate on similar platforms and run many of the same programs. Disadvantages of Tablet PCs

Despite my obvious zeal for tablet PCs, I recognize that there are still some disadvantages. Just like speech-to-text systems require a trained style of speech to work properly, tablet PCs recognize a trained penmanship easier than the way you may write naturally. Finally, their smaller size is both an advantage and disadvantage.

How Does a Tablet PC Work?

By John Harper

Many students and business people have laptops, but few have looked closely enough at tablet PCs. They really should, because the right tablet PC could really help them succeed in school or business.

There are two main types of tablet PCs. The slate tablet PC doesn't have a keyboard or mouse. Then you can use it like a slate tablet.

As I mentioned above, you use the pen to input data into the tablet PC. Tablets are more delicate than a regular laptop, though, because the hinge where the screen connects to the body is a weak point. Tablet PCs are a great idea for many people because they have some excellent advantages over standard laptops and mini laptops.
